1st day
Arrival by rental car at Aberdeen Motel, Whycocomagh, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia,
Canada.
Check-in, welcome café, information map.
Day 2
Breakfast at the motel. Tour all through the village of Whycocomagh, Waycobah
First Nation (Indian Reserve), on South Route of Bras d'Or Scenic Drive via
Iron Mines to Orangedale, brief tour through this for the area once typical
village, ev. Railway Museum), than to Valley Mills via a twin bridge to Malagawatch.
Lunch at the Cape Breton smoke house, a restaurant on a nice setting with water
view. Continue to Marble Mountain, stop over at the spectacular Look Off and
the only white marble sand beach of Eastern Canada. Continue to West Bay and
Cleveland, along River Inhabitants to West Bay Road, Big Brook, River Denys,
Alba, Portage, Little Narows, traversing a narrow part of Bras d'Or Lakes by
cable ferry to Aberdeen. Supper in Whycocomagh.
Day 3
Breakfast at the motel. Tour to the Margaree Valley. Trout fishing with John
and Pat at the Old Miller Trout Farm. Fish menu lunch. Drive around the very
natural and untouched river bed/ mouth of the river along the French coast.
Visiting Fish Hatchery, ev. salmon museum, etc. Then along the east part of
the valley to the Big Intervale Fishing Lodge for supper with Ruth and Herman.
Drive back to the motel.
Day 4
Breakfast at the motel. Day trip around the famous Cabot Trail, possibly the
most well known tourist trail of North America. (This is the only not guided
tour). Supper in Whycocomagh.
Day 5
Breakfast at the motel. For lunch you will get lunch box through the motel.
Tour along Lake Ainslie, the largest natural fresh water lake of Nova Scotia,
to Scottsville, along the west arm of the Margaree River. Continue into the
french-acadian region northerly of the mouth of the Margaree River into the
"Hinterland" and ending up at the southern portion of Margaree Harbour.
There is the boat of Captain Leo Burns waiting for you. This ride brings you
close to Margaree Island. On your way Leo will let you watch various birds,
look for whales, etc. By the island you may watch Seagulls, Bald Eagles, Birds
and much more. After a while, on the way back, the captain may give to you a
fishing rod. So, please fish as much as you can, it is your supper! Leo cuts
the fishes into filets, which you bring back to the motel. There is everything
ready for a fish barbecue. The Tour brings you back to the motel.
Day 6
Breakfast at the motel.Tour to Isle Madam an acadian-french settlement. There
you will meet Terrance Fortune for kayaking and canoeing. Terrance provides
to you for lunch a "pioneer lunch bag". Continue with a site seeing
tour of this area via Louisdale and ending in Port Hawkesbury. In case we will
get a little time left we will continue our tour to the mainland of Nova Scotia
to the town of Mulgrave which is Port Hawkesbury's neighbor town across the
causeway. You also can get an impression of a gigantic gravel pit. A whole mountain
will be cut into gravel and mainly exported all over the world...Supper in Port
Hastings at the Skye Dining Room with Chef Louie Boudreau. Drive back to motel.
Day 7
Breakfast at the motel.
> For these guests, which had booked for a week, this means to pack the bags
and check out. Hoping you got nice impressions of the island and a little bit
of home sickness......
> The other guests are getting ready for the visit of the Highland Village Museum in Iona, a museum of local Scotch culture and heritage. Lunch at Highland Restaurant. Continue along further parts of Bras d'Or Scenic Drive. Large Bridge at Strait of Barra, to Christmas Island and North Sydney. Get impressions of a town which still looks like a pioneer town of old and visiting the Ferry Terminal.The gateway for most of the traffic to the Province of New Foundland. At this ferry terminal is the beginning of the Trans Canada Highway (which ends up after ca. 6'500 kms in Vancouver at the Pacific).We will stay on this road for about 65 kilometers on our drive via Seal Island Bridge over Kelly's Mountain to St.Anns Bay and Baddeck to Nyanza. There we are going to have supper at the Red Barn (about 15 kms from the motel). At the Red barn you will get the possibility to play mini golf.
As an alternative to the visit of the Highland Village there is the visit of the Alexander Graham Bell Museum ( inventor of the telephone). In this case there will be a modified tour taking place.
Day 8
Breakfast at the motel.
This is your day off. Relax or do just what you want......
Day 9
Breakfast at the motel. Tour to the french Fortress of Louisbourg. No lunch
provided. Get your lunch maybe at a place in the Fortress, where meals out of
this old time are offered. Supper on our way back to the motel.
Day 10
Breakfast at the motel. Site seeing tour to the town of Port Hawkesbury. Visiting
shops, stores and going for a town tour. Because of the enormous development
of this place the town is also called "Booming Town of North America".
We go to visit Industrial Parks and Industries. Lunch at a fast food place/stand.
Also we are intending to visit one of the industrial plants. For supper we go
to the N.S. mainland overpassing Canso Causeway to the Mariner Restaurant situated
on an Island. Drive back to the motel.
Day 11
Breakfast at the motel. Boat tour on Whycocomagh Bay. Lunch in Whycocomagh.
In the afternoon drive through the southern Highlands, passing by gigantic forest
plants and forest roads and a spectacular skidoo trail system in Cape Clear
region. Viewing large cultivated forests which were introduced to this area
by Stora/Feldmuhle Group. Ending up on Lake O'Law, a unique mountain lake, where
are possibilities for go-kart, mini-golf, to rent paddle boats and canoes. Supper
at "The Lakes" restaurant. Drive back to the motel.
Day 12 (must be a Tuesday)
Breakfast at the motel. Hike to Salt Mountain, the mountain dividing Whycocomagh
and Aberdeen. Pic-nic lunch. Drive into the Glencoe mountains, passing ruff
valleys and unique farms to Judique. Along the western coast via Port Hood,
Mabou, Inverness, Shore Road to Margaree Harbour. Ev. passing by a buffalo farm.
Supper and entertainment (scotch singers) at the Schooner Restaurant. Where
original kilts or parts of it can be bought. You may talk to John May, the owner,
who can be called a "scotch original". Driving back to the motel.
Day 13
Breakfast at the motel.Visiting Baddeck Forks Golf Course. You have a chance
to play golf. Included: instructions for beginners, play on 9 holes, carts,
clubs. Additional charge if required: play on 18 holes, add. balls, power cars.
Then drive trough the Baddeck River Valley. A mixture of farms, forests, nature
and a river system. Visit of Uisge Ban water falls. Lunch in the area. remaining
afternoon at your disposal. Supper: BBQ at the motel.
14th day
Breakfast at the motel. Check-out.
Evening entertainment, voluntary (not included in package):

-Bingo at Whycocomagh Lions Hall (Friday 8:00 pm)
-Ceilidh at Blues Mills

The operator reserves his right to:
-limit or maximize the number of guests
-to cancel scheduled tours
-to change tours according to season and possibilities
-to choose the opening day. That means day 2 has not to be the 2nd day in tour
schedule.
